Can I try Yoga?

Yes, if you are aged 16 or over (Younger teenagers can attend with an adult). As long as there is no medical reason or request from your doctor not to attend yoga, you can give it a try! My classes are all inclusive, every body is different and I promote an environment free from judgement, of others and of yourself.

Why try Yoga?

Increases flexibility - During your first class, you probably won’t be able to touch your toes, but stick with it and you’ll notice a gradual loosening, and eventually, impossible poses will become possible.

Builds Strength - Strong muscles can protect us from conditions like arthritis and back pain.

Prevents cartilage and joint breakdown - Each time you practice yoga, you take your joints through their full range of motion. This can help prevent degenerative arthritis

Protects your spine - Spinal disks crave movement, these are the shock absorbers between the vertebrae that can herniate and compress nerves.

Improves posture and balance - Poor posture can cause back, neck, and other muscle and joint problems.

Drops your blood pressure and increases your serotonin levels - Yoga makes you healthier and happier!

What is Gentle Flow Yoga?

This is the perfect class for complete beginners, however experienced Yogis will also enjoy the gentle stretching and strengthening and slow flow of the class. We practice breathwork throughout the class, taking time to connect with your body and mind. Each class sequence is different from week to week and lasts for 55 minutes, with a 5-7 minute relaxing meditation to finish.

What is Yin Yoga?

A stretch based class that is also ideal for complete beginners and experienced Yogis. It is a slow and meditative style of Yoga, where we relax into each pose for 3-5 minutes. We practice breathwork throughout the class, focusing on your breath to still your busy mind. Each class is 65 minutes with a 7-10 minute meditation to finish.

What is Vinyasa Yoga?

This is a more energetic and dynamic style of Yoga flow, beginners are more than welcome to join, you do not need to be an experienced Yogi to attend, however, you just need a fair level of fitness and be prepared for a little more strength exercises. This is the perfect class if you want to energise and tone your body. Each class is different and lasts for 55 minutes, with a 3-5 minute relaxing meditation to finish.

What is Yoga Nidra and Pranayama?

Nidra is a Sanskrit word meaning 'sleep'. It is a form of guided meditation, a method of Pratyahara (withdrawal of senses) that allows you to scan the body and tap into a state of relaxed consciousness as the mind settles in a place between wakefulness and sleep. It is said that a 30 minute yoga nidra practice is equivalent to 2-4 hours of sleep. The many benefits of Nidra include reducing stress and anxiety, improved sleep quality, can lower blood pressure, enhanced cognitive performance and memory and increased dopamine levels. Pranayama is the practice of breath regulation. It’s a main component of yoga, an exercise for physical and mental wellness. In Sanskrit, “prana” means life energy and “yama” means control. The practice of pranayama involves breathing exercises and patterns. You purposely inhale, exhale, and hold your breath in a specific sequence.

Why try Pilates?

In our classes we work on building up your strength through core exercises whilst stretching and toning your body. If you’ve been looking for a new workout routine that can give you a good balance of flexibility, strength, muscle tone and help for a few aches and pains, Pilates may be the answer. While athletes and dancers are especially vulnerable to repetitive motion injuries, they happen to all of us occasionally. That’s why Pilates can benefit a much wider range of people as well as help you heal from injuries. What links Yoga and Pilates is breath work, so this is also a focus during Pilates class. Please bring your mat, maybe blocks and a strap too.

How much are classes?

Classes start from just £6.50. Drop in/pay as you go classes start from £8.00. You can purchase a class pass to book or just pay as you go.

What do I need to bring/wear?

Wear any comfortable gym clothes. Bring your yoga mat and yoga block(s). I recommend bringing a bottle of water and a blanket too. You will need to have bare feet or wear grippy Yoga socks. All items are available to purchase on the Online Shop.

Need to know...

Please ensure you arrive 3-5 minutes early to class. Classes always start on time and the door will be locked then. Please do not arrive more than 15 minutes prior to class as we may be finishing a silent meditation from the previous session! You must make sure that your mobile phone is switched off. You will need to bring you own yoga mat, spare mats are not provided sorry. Come with an open mind and open heart, remember, good things take time, energy and practice, Yoga is a journey through the self to the self.

I have really enjoyed the classes at Llanasa. Gentle start after many months without face to face classes. I would recommend the class to both beginners and people looking to resume yoga practice

I love Yoga Dance Fusion. Good fun and the music really enlivened the class. I felt I'd had a good energetic experience, but also stretching and meditation at the end meant you relaxed also, which made it an all round class

Donna K

Such a supportive environment and so relaxing. After 3 sessions I am already seeing pretty noticeable improvements to my flexibility, stamina and balance. An hour of 'me time' every week is just what I needed and I look forward to the next session. Thank you!

As someone who was quite anxious to go to Yoga classes alone, I'm so glad I started going to Marianne's classes.

She pays attention to every individual in the class and makes everyone feel included and welcome. I really look forward to yoga each week and I've already noticed such a difference in myself since starting!
